Horizontal Transfer to Graduate Programs

Admission of Students Through Horizontal Transfer

Article 12

1) Students enrolled in thesis-based master’s or doctoral programs at higher education institutions may be admitted to the Institute’s graduate programs through lateral transfer for thesis-based master’s or doctoral programs no later than the end of the second semester. (This paragraph was amended by Senate Resolution No. 10-06 dated December 19, 2024.)

2) The thesis-based graduate programs eligible for lateral transfer and their quotas are determined based on the opinion of the Department/Division Council, a decision by the Institute Council, and Senate approval.

3) Applications for lateral transfer must be submitted during the graduate program application periods announced in the academic calendar.

4) Students who have received disciplinary sanctions or whose enrollment has been terminated due to academic failure may not apply for lateral transfer.

5) Students seeking lateral transfer to thesis-based graduate programs must meet the minimum application requirements specified for the lateral transfer application period of the relevant graduate program and have a minimum GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 in their current program.

6) The duration of study for graduate students transferring laterally is calculated by including the time spent at their previous university.

7) Applications are evaluated in accordance with the principles outlined in Article 11.

Overall Grade Point Average Requirement

For an applicant to be considered successful in the graduate admissions exam, their overall grade point average must be:

  • For thesis-based master’s programs, it must be at least 60/100.
  • For doctoral programs, it must be at least 70/100.
  • For doctoral programs that admit students with a bachelor’s degree, a minimum score of 70/100 is required.
