  • To apply for thesis-based master’s programs taught in Turkish, one of the foreign language proficiency requirements listed below must be met. (This paragraph was amended by Senate Resolution No. 10-06 dated December 19, 2024.)
a) To hold a high school, undergraduate, or graduate degree from an educational institution where instruction is conducted in that language,
b) Have scored at least 50 points on a central foreign language exam accepted by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), or have achieved an equivalent score on an internationally recognized foreign language exam,
  • For applicants applying to thesis-based master’s programs taught in English, have scored at least 55 on the YDS or an equivalent score on other foreign language exams recognized by ÖSYM as equivalent to the YDS,
  • The overall grade point average is calculated as follows:

    Overall Grade = (0.40 × Entrance Exam Score) + (0.10 × Weighted Undergraduate GPA) + (0.50 × ALES Score)
  • The overall grade must be at least 60.
  • Candidates who do not take any of the entrance exams (written/oral) are considered to have failed and will not be included in the ranking.
The scores defined above are minimum scores; provided that the score required for application is not less than the lower limit determined by the Council of Higher Education, different minimum score values may be set for each program based on the opinion of the Departmental Board, the decision of the Institute Council, and the approval of the Senate. It is important for applicants to review the Application Requirements Table on the Application Page before submitting their applications.
