Online applications (including transfer applications) for the Graduate School of Science and Engineering Graduate Programs for the 2023-2024 Academic Year Fall Semester started on May 3rd, 2023 and will end on July 2nd, 2023. The approvals of the applications will be made by the relevant Gradaute School personnel inside the application deadlines. You will not be able to modfy your application once it has been approved by the Graduate School. For this reason, please make sure not to save your application before you have finalized your preferences and/or order of preferences.
ALES Examination and its ÖSYM approved equivalent GRE Exam are valid for a period of 5 (five) years. Please click here for the grade transformation table currently in use by the Graduate School of Science and Engineering.
International candidates must upload onto the system a Turkish proficiency certificate of at the level of a minimum C1 which has been acquired at the TÖMER/language centers of the public universities located in Turkey or Yunus Emre Institutes abroad. TÖMER certificate is valid for a period of 2 (two) years. However, international students who hold a Bachelor's Degree and/or a Master's Degree in programs in universities located in Turkey where Turkish is the medium of instruction are exempt from the Turkish TÖMER C1 language certificate requirement. Those international candidates must upload a electronic graduation document downloaded from the e-Government Gateway infrastructure instead of a TÖMER C1 proficiency certificate.
One candidate can only prefer two master's programs and/or one Ph.D. program in his/her preferences. The order of preference is significant in that the first preference will be prioritized in the placement and registration.
ALES (GRE) or Foreign Language Proficiency Certificate is not required in the applications and registrations of Non-Thesis MSc. Programs. The students will be evaluated on their undergraduate GPA scores on the admission lists.
According to the YTU Graduate Education Regulation Senate Principles, Foreign Language Proficiency Certificate is not required in the applications and evaluations of the master's programs where Turkish is the medium of instruction.

Turkish nationals must select the application module titled as “FBE T.C. Vatandaşı Lisansüstü Başvuruları - 2023 2024 Güz Dönemi” on the OBS system and complete their online applications.
International applicants must select the application module titled as “FBE Yabancı Uyruklu Lisansüstü Başvuruları-2023 2024 Güz Dönemi” on the OBS system and complete their online applications.
YTU master's programs graduates/soon-to-be graduates as of the end of the 2022-2023 Academic Year Spring Semester must select the application module titled as “2022-2023 Bahar Dönemi YTÜ Yüksek Lisans Mezunlar için 2023-2024 Güz Dönemi Doktora Başvurusu” on the OBS system and complete their online applications (2022-2023 Academic Year Spring Semester graduates/soon-to-be graduates: the graduates as of February 27th, 2023).
The candidates to apply for transfer must select the application module titled as “FBE Lisansüstü Yatay Geçiş Başvuru 2023 2024 Güz Dönemi” on the OBS system and complete their online applications.
APPLICATION PREFERENCE EVALUATION CRITERIA:
After the evaluations have been carried out, the results will be announced. The admission list candidates will log into the OBS system and make their registrations themselves. For any admission list candidate to qualify for registration within the relevant deadlines, they must not have any registration into a graduate program with thesis at any other higher education institution according to the regulations currently in place at Yildiz Technical University and the Council of Higher Education. After the admission list registrations have been completed, there will be waiting list registrations as per the remaining student quotas in several cycles as many as it takes and during the relevant deadlines, waiting list candidates qualifying for admissiion must log into the OBS system and make their registrations themselves. For any waiting list candidate to qualify for registration within the relevant deadlines, they must not have any registration into a graduate program with thesis at any other higher education institution according to the regulations currently in place at Yildiz Technical University and the Council of Higher Education.
- If a candidate qualifies for registration into his/her first preferred program, the second preference is not taken into consideration any more, regardless of whether he/she makes his/her registration within the admission list registration deadlines. Therefore, the candidates qualifying for their first preferences must make their registrations online themselves within the relevant deadlines.
- On the condition that a candidate does not qualify for his/her first preferred program but qualifies for his/her second preferred program, the first preference is not taken into consideration any more, regardless of whether he/she makes his/her registration within the admission list registration deadlines. Therefore, the candidates not qualifying for their first preferences but qualifying for their second preferences must make their registrations online themselves within the relevant deadlines.
- The above rules also apply to the waiting list registrations as per the remaining student quotas.
